Named for the classic Fellini film, this Hong Kong import has established itself as a titan of the city’s Italian fine dining scene. The restaurant’s namesake chef, Umberto Bombana, is based in Hong Kong and makes regular trips to Shanghai. The kitchen in Shanghai outpost is run by Chef Riccardo La Perna. His menu showcases luxurious imported ingredients, from aged Iberico ham to Boston lobster tagliatelle to Oakleigh Ranch rib-eye.
They offer a five-course degustation menu including wine pairings. La Perna also works up seasonal menus throughout the year. This is one of the finest meals available in Shanghai, and the team there has its sights set even higher. After all, its older sibling garnered two Michelin stars in its first year before grabbing another in its second, making it the first Italian restaurant outside of Italy with three Michelin stars. The Shanghai 8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo received two stars in the 2021 Shanghai Michelin Guide.
