This performance space in the Xuhui district houses two spacious rehearsal halls in an expansive building that covers an area of 15,000 sqm. This modern theatre has been host to many opera companies over the years, and to this day boasts some of the best bilingual and English language productions and performances in the city.
Currently this performance space acts as a cultural centre for both artists and opera enthusiasts. Former highlights included a multi-national production of new play 'Going to Baidi', Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire and tormented playwright Sarah Kane's 'Psychosis'. The Dramatic Arts Center additionally hosted Shakespeare performances as well as workshops and festivals throughout past year.
The sheer immensity of this theatre juxtaposed with the charming FFC buildings around it make it one of the most visually impressive performance establishments, even by Shanghai standards.
