Year 12 and Year 13 students at the British International School (BISS) Puxi discuss their personal and academic plans for the year ahead. (Video after the text.)
Jihyun, Year 13
“Actually, last summer I decided that I want to participate in the 2018 Olympics in South Korea as a translator. I need to improve my language skills and study English and Chinese more so I will need to study hard and take the HKIS 4 and TOEFL exams.”
Anne, Year 13
“To accept and make the best out of everything that comes. We are graduating, so we don’t really know what’s going to happen. For university, I have lots of plan Bs and Cs, but my first option is to study Medicine at the University of St Andrews in Scotland.”
Daniel, Year 13
“I am a passionate swimmer. I want to be well prepared for a big meet in March. As captain, I want to do well and also set an example for a lot of the younger students I’ve helped coach. So they can see that hard work pays off.”
Jack, Year 13
“As an IB student my main goal is to get into university next year. I will apply to Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Finance and Maths are my strong suits. After graduation from university, I am looking forward to joining a global company like Goldman Sachs or J.P. Morgan Chase.”
Freya, Year 12
“My personal goal for next year is to start tap dancing. I’ve always been into theater and music but I don’t really dance. I think tap dancing is an interesting activity and would be new for me. And academically, my goal is to work on organization and to keep on top of my school work so that I am not so stressed.”
Kin, Year 12
“I think my goal will be to focus more on my Maths, which is HL and I heard it can get quite challenging. I would also like to balance ECAs (Extra Curricular Activities) more with my academic schedule.”
Jasper, Year 13
“I’d like to do well in sports and try to retrieve our title back in basketball at ACAMIS. In general, I just want to see what will happen and let it come to me; I see no point in worrying about the future. I like to deal with things as they occur.”
