How parents can better overcome/manage their stress

As parents we, at times, bite off more than we can chew. This issue we speak to Laimei who runs two businesses as well as her large family. Laimei shares how parents can manage/ overcome stress through nutrition and hypnotherapy.

1.How is being a parent in Shanghai sometimes difficult?

Shanghai is dynamic, fast-paced and a very safe city, though being a parent here can be challenging! The biggest challenges are related to cultural differences, living in a big city with few options to be close to nature, the pollution, the long working hours, fast pace of life and relationship conflicts.

2.When did you discover hypnotherapy?

I arrived in China in 2005 and embraced life here. After building up several businesses and having two babies, I felt exhausted.

In 2014, I had a complete breakdown (diagnosed pre-diabetic, chronic fatigue, insomnia etc.), and I couldn't get out of my bed anymore. That is when I went to the nutrition school in NY. The nutrition therapy helped me to recover up to 50%, but I still needed to do a big part in managing my anxiety and stress and rebuilding my coping skills.

One day, I encountered Hypnotherapy (RTT), and it was like an epiphany. I was blown away by the results I obtained. I reversed my prediabetes, and I would say I got back my energy and my life! Then I decided to become a hypnotherapist!

3.Would you recommend it to other parents?

I recommend hypnotherapy to parents to manage anxiety and stress and to build up healthy relationships. Children are like emotional sponges, soaking up the feelings of those closest to them. So it's not surprising that they're particularly sensitive to parental anxiety. It can be confusing for children of all ages as they'll wonder what's going on and, typically, think it must be their fault. And it can undermine their confidence and even affect their school work. There are things you can do to reduce the likelihood of children ‘catching' your anxiety. Unfortunately, you can't just pop your children down to the doctors for a quick anxiety vaccination. It is, however, possible to minimise its effect on them. One of the best ways of doing this is to work your anxieties out with hypnotherapy. During regression, you can see the causes of your concerns. You will become aware of the root of your anxiety, which gives you the power to shift it. I then use hypno-techniques to install new positive beliefs and habits.

4.What benefits can I gain from this treatment?

Using hypnotherapy, I will support you to achieve your most significant potential through changing perceptions, patterns and other issues. Hypnotherapy really can transform lives, not just your life but also your children's lives. Once you've taken control of your anxieties, fears and self-limiting beliefs, you can help your children to adopt effective coping strategies. If they did encounter problems, they could be quickly resolved before they become habitual, life-limiting habits. In a safe environment, you will begin to experience increased self-esteem, freedom from emotional distress and deep healing.
