Calling All Eco Warriors: Time to Speak Up!

By 2020-08-13 17:41:18

According to some reports by organizations like the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and World Food Programme (WFP),  25 countries will likely face "devastating levels of hunger and food shortages" caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and extreme weather events such as flooding and locusts.

In the face of these crises, people around the world are ramping up collaborative efforts to address global challenges. And the youth - the hope of the future, has become the main driving force behind today’s global sustainability movements as they are always creative, attentive and positive.

They not only encourage their parents to live by the 5(eco)R's but also speak out to fight for our planet.

Presenting:
‘Shanghai Family Student Voices’, a speaking competition designed to enable future generations to share their thoughts and solutions to some of the planet’s most pressing issues.

At Shanghai Family, we feel it's crucial to give students the creative means to not only articulate their views on environmental protection and how society can make changes to support eco revival, but also to help them grow more confident, capable, and compelling public speakers. It reminds them that they have a voice, and with it their own power to ignite and promote change.

In initial stages of the competition, contestants must send in a short speech via a video. Selected candidates will then be invited to join our offline event to compete in the live Student Voices speaking competition in front of friends, family, and members of the community. The Semi-Final will be hosted on 16th August and  23rd August at THE PLACE, Shanghai.

To enter, each contestant should send in the following to editor@shfamily.com by midnight, the 15th August 2020.

The winners of the Semi-Final will go through to the Student Voices Final which will take place on 18th October at THE PLACE.

Certificates and prizes will be awarded first, second, and third place winners.
